My Position on the Proposed Carondelet Homeless Shelter

Currently, a Men’s Shelter is proposed to occupy the Chapel of Saints Mary and Joseph located at 6300 Minnesota.

I have had multiple members of the community reach out and express grave concerns with this proposed shelter.

It is my understanding that there are no rules or restrictions that would be required for possible clients of this shelter. Residents are concerned that without any restrictions and rules for residents of this shelter, we will not know if anyone dangerous to the community will be in residence.

I am aware that the city is in dire need to address its lack of services and housing for our unhoused population, but until the city has a comprehensive plan, and this proposed shelter with clear restrictions is a part of that plan, I stand in opposition to this project moving forward.
