Kim Gardner Should Resign
Last week, I made a statement in regard to the incident where Janae Edmondson was tragically injured. I did not want to politicize the horror this family endured, but I did say there would be a reckoning. We as a community need to hold accountable every person who played a role in this crime.
I and nearly everyone who works in law enforcement lost confidence in Kim Gardner’s ability to manage her office years ago. I have seen hundreds of years of combined experience in career prosecutors leave her office, fleeing her mismanagement. I have witnessed Kim Gardner continually dismiss cases against violent criminals, letting them go free. And, I have seen the agony of victims, watch their only recourse for justice disappear.
Those in the law enforcement community know the irreparable damage her gross mismanagement has done to our city. For the sake of our community, I am calling for Kim Gardner to resign. Last week she displayed that she does not have the dignity to take responsibility for her numerous failures. I fully support the Quo Warrant motion by the Attorney General. The day that Kim Gardner resigns or is removed is when we can start rebuilding our justice system in the City of St. Louis.
